The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd.. report:—Wo held a record clearing sale on January 14 on account of Mr. W. H. Walsh, Mataraau. The cows were lit splendid,condition, and tho demand was very keen. For. this time of the year it is possibly a record to be able to state that the cows averaged £16 16s. 6d. The. top price was £26 10s.. and Bcvcral others realised over £20. On Monday at Norsewood wo offered'a fair yarding of Bheepand cattle, and nuitted moßt lines. We ouote—Sheep: Two-tooth wethcrß. 255. Oattle: Fat cows. £12 :■ store cowb. £8 10s. to. £5 10s.; yearling steers, £6; weauers, £2 10s. On Friday, at Dannevirke. W.i offered a fair yarding of cattle, but no sheep. The cattlo' market showed a distinct rise. We quote:— lOattle: Springing heifers. £12 12s. <d. to '£0 10s.; fat cows, £12 12s. 6d.;' fat bullocks, £16 2s. fid. to £15; store bullocks, £11 155.; two-year steers, £10 55.; store cows, £9 ss. to £6 100.
