RETURNED N.CO.'S
Sir,—l wish to bring, under the publio notice, and especially the R.S.A.> the fact that returned n.c.o.'s are expected to revert to the ranks at Fea- ' tberston Camp, while men who never saw the front are being retained as n.c.o.'s. Is this the kind of square, deal our returned heroes are to receive P R.S.A. see to it that no such unfairness shall take place. We should do onr best for the.heroes who saved ub from Belgium's horrible fate. —I am, otc.,

[Defence Headquarters states that all n.c.o.'s who held n.c.o. rank in the Expeditionary Force, and who were returned to tho Dominion from abroad either for duty or on duty furlough, are permitted to retain the rank they held iu the Expeditionary Force on rejoining camp, provided they, are classified as medically fit for further active service. If n.c.o.'s from overseas were in camp or on leave, etc., at tho dato of signing of the armistice, they were' demobilised from tho Expeditionary Force with the.n.c.o.. rank they held therein. Tho f only n.c.o.'s of the Expeditionary Force who are required to serve in tho ranks on rejoining are those who. having been discharged from the Expeditionary Force as medically unfit, and who subsequently volunteered for duty on homo service. Thesd n.c.o.'s are of necessity, if selected' for home service, required, to report in camp and servo in tho rank of private and take promotion iu their turn with other n.c.o.'s and me"/of the home service branch in accordance .with ..the establishment of n.c.o.'s authorised.]
