FIRST MEETS AT KARLSRUHE By Telegraph—Press Association- - Copyright Berlin, January 17. A wireless report states that the first separate National Assembly in Germany met on January 15 at Karlsruhe, when 107 deputies, including nine women, wore present. The MinisterPresident thanked the soldiers of Baden for their services in the war. He said the Grand Dnko of Baden had not participated in tho war either, at the heBinning or tho end; and therefore the Government expressed its thanks to the unassuming wearer of the Crown, and his hoir. HIDDEN ARMS AND AMMUNITION DISCOVERED IN RUSSIAN EMBASSY IN BERLIN. Copenhagen, January 16. . LIEBKNECHT AND ROSA LUXEMBURG FURTHER CONFLICTING REPORTS. Amsterdam.! January 16. It is reported that Liebtaiecht and Rosa Luxemburg are now at Bentheim awaiting authority to enter Holland.— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. London, January 17. Copenhagen reports state •that Dr. Liebknecht was shot half nn hour.after being court-martialled and sentenced to death, but there are no details. It is also stated that Rosa Luxemburg was killed while Attempting to escape to Zurich. , .

The armed car which was conveying Liebknech't and Schoenbem from the police station to the Central Station in Berlin broke down. The guards decided to walk, andLiobknecht attempted to escape and was killed instantaneously by a sbot between the shoulders. The'Government!has ordered an inquiry to ascertain if the bloodshed could have been averted. , ( A lynching party nearly succeeded in dragging Rosa Luxemburg from a car the guards were driving to prison, and she! was almost torn to pieces before she was shot.—Aus.-N.Z. ELECTION RIOTS GENERAL STRIKE. AT LEIPZIG. (Rec. January-21, 0.5 a.m.) London, January 19. Riots marked the German elections for the National Assembly. There is a general strike at Leipzig, and the oity js without gas and water. The mob destroyed the election bureau on Sunday.—Renter.
