Cable advice has been received that l.<'li K ht-Major K. L. Caldwell, D.F.C., M.C., has been awarded a bar to his Distinguished Flying Cross decoration. Major Caldwell, who commands 74th Squadron, which during the last five months established a record, having crashed 200 Hun machines with only eleven casualties, is a son of Mr. D. R. Caldwell, of the firm of Messrs. Macky, Logan, Caldwell, Ltd., • Wellington and Auckland, and a grandson of Mr. James M'Kcrrow, of Wellington.

An old settler of the Wairarapaaud the Forty-Mile Bush, in the person of Mr. William Judd, died at Mastertoii yesterday at the ago of 84 years.
