AUSTRALIAN HONOUR BADGE

A badge of honour is to be issued by the Federal Defence Department to tba mothers or wives of soldiers who havq been killed on active service or have died as a result of such service.': The' badge consists of a baud of black silk 3in. long and 2}iu. broad, suspended' from a bar of silver Jin. wide, witii «. brooch-pin attached, and has a simi« lar bar at the Artisficelly; woven into the silk band, commencing from the top, are two scrolls in gold of wattle flowers, then the badge of the Commonwealth _ militaryforces in gold, purple, and silver, and 1 ; 'underneath this in gold letters «ie< simple words "For Australia." _ ANfixed to the bottom silver bar u a gilt seven-pointed star or stars, ■ the stars representing the number of ; tho6o in the family who have made the : supreme sacrifice. The badge is simple is design but chaste, and no doubt \ will be'cherished by the honoured pos- > 6essors who have specially earned the ■ sympathy and admiration of their fol- 1 low-oitizens. . '.
