Levin Home. TIIO monthly meeting of the Lovin Memorial.Home Committee was held on Tuesday at the home; Miss Archibald (president) was in the chair. The matron reported: "The children, who were all well, had spent a very happy Christmas, and many kind friends had remembered the children. Several picnics had been held at the seaside.'' Gifts are acknowledged from the following: Me'sdames Knoivles, Christie, Payne, Ford Company, Hawke's Bay Fisheries, and Mrs. Groen. The Countess of Liverpool kindly presented to the home a gramophone and parcel of records. Mrs. M. A. Williams gave a donation of £1 Is. to the Christmas fund. ( The coronation and concert in connection with the recent St. Mary of tlie Angels' rebuilding bazaar will bo held in the Town Hall on Saturday, February 1. The coronation is designed on a magnificent scale, and it is anticipated that the fine dressings and mountings will mark a particularly bright'incident in Wellington's artistic life. The arrangements for the coronation are in the capable hands of Mrs. S. Hempton, who will be remembered as one of the queen candidates at the patriotic carnival held here in the eprly days of the war. A concert programme has also been arranged, and the committee has been fortunate in securing the services of Signor Lncien Cesaroni, the well-known operatic basso. The ladies and gentlemen connected with the coronation ceremony are notified that a practice wilL be held in St. Patrick's Hall on Wednesday evening next at 8 p.m. Mr. and Mrs. J. Studholme ("Rua•mii") have taken Dr. Hislop's house in Willis Street for a time. Mr. and Sirs. Maurice Turrell have returned from Christchurch. Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Ormond are visiting Napier. i Mrs. and Miss Corliss have returned from a visit to Picton. Miss Kitty Reading, of Christchurch, is visiting Wellington. The Misses Abraham, of Palmerston North, motored from Rotorua to Gisborne for a short visit. Miss Myers leaves for Auckland today to jom the Makura. She purposes spending a holiday in America. Miss Florence Birch, general secretary of the Y.W.C.A., will conduct the service to-morrow afternoon at the Y.W.0.A., Fowlds's Buildings, Herbert Street. The address ivill be. given by Mr. J. Baxter, and his subject will bo "God's Manifestations and Britain's Responsibilities." Last Sunday, in his address on. "Woman: Her Part and Her Power," Mr. Baxter dealt with tho wonderful part that had been taken by women, in the war zone, the responsibility ' that had been given to her in •the reconstruction of the nations, and the part she had to play in the bringing about of God's Kingdom on earth. At the Y.W.C.A. social evening tonight the programme will be given by Miss Lankshear, Miss Exton, and Miss Buckmaster, with tho assistance of the members of Everybody's Social Club. All soldiers, especially those who have returned from the front, will be welcome to spend a jolly evening of games and music. Specially attractive arrangements in connection with 'the holiday pro-' gramme for the clubs of the Y.W.C.A. have been made for the coming week. On Monday the Pollyauna Club members are making an excursion to Rona Bay; on Tuesday a ramble round Oriental Bay and. Kilbirnie has been arranged for the Pathfinders' Club. Volley-ball will be played as usual during the week. For Wednesday (Anniversary Day) picnics have been planned. The senior members intend going to the bush at Ngaio and the girls' department members to Maori Bush, Lower Hutt.

MATTERS OF INTEREST FROM FAR AND NEA&

The wedding took place at Takaka recently of Miss Hilda Emms, daught-er of Mr. Arthur Emms, a very old resident of Takaka, to Mr. Francis M. Day, of Westport. The bride is a wellknown hockey player, .and was captain and mainstay of the o)d Golden Bay hockey team. She also represented Nelson province, and played for New Zealand against the English team that toured the Dominion a few years ago. Miss Florrie Emms and Miss M. Day were bridesmaids, the best man was Mr. Charles J. Emms, and tlic groomsman Mr. George Bosher, both returned soldiers. The fceremony was performed by the Rev. Father M'Gratk. Mr. Guy Tabart, lately of Christchurch, who, since the beginning of the war, has been occupied on special work at Woolwich,-is engaged to be married to Miss Roberts, of St. John's Hospital, Loudon. Mr. and-Mrs. Eric Riddiford, Orongorongo, intended leaving for America shortly, but owing to the present shipping uncertainty cannot now make any definite plans. . Dr. and Mrs. Chesson, of Christchurch, are visiting Wellington. A wedding of interest' to : New Zealand people will take place at Geelong, Victoria, on February 19, when Mr. Gordon Fulton, of'Rotherham, is to marry Miss Austin, daughter of the Hon. A. Austin, M.L.O. \ $ir Robert and Lady Stout are visiting Auckland.
