AN OWNER DISQUALIFIED

THE DEMOS INCIDENT. Certain occurrences at the Wellington Racing Club's Spring Meeting led to an inquiry by the stewards, who arrived at. the following decißiou:— That in the opinion of the stewards Ernest Short was guilty of instructing his iockey, Harold \oung, rider of Demos, not to win the Shorts Handicap at. the Wellington Racing Club's Meeting, run on October 26, I<JlB. The stewards, therefore, disqualify Mr. Short for a period of two years, under Part XXXIU of the Holes of Bacing. Mr. Short appealed against the decision and his appeal was heard by the District Committee yesterday. The appeal was dismissed and the decision of the Wellington stewards was confirmed. Mr. Short forfeits his deposit.
