TARANAKI STREET METHODIST CHURCH
4 The circuit quarterly meeting of Turanaki Street Wesley Church was held j on Wednesday evening, liev. J. G. Chapman presiding. The statement of income and expenditure for the quarter showed a credit of £2 Is. 9d. ■'This was considered satisfactory considering the exceptional circumstances that 'had to ho met during the quarter. Tlio annual balance-shoot showed receipts amounting to over £1000, leaving n circuit credit of £242 -Is. It~ was reported that n sum of £205 6s. 4d. had been raised during the year for foreign missions, ,ind £100 for home missions, also £17 17s. 3d. for orphanago fund, and £56 2s. for Soldiers' Camp Comfort, Fund. Messrs. W. E. Hcdstono and F. Chinehew were unanimously rc-eloeted in the position of circuit stewards for the ensuing twelve months. Messrs. J. Kershaw and L. J. Garrard were appointed representatives to conference in Christehureh next month, with Messrs, W. King and C. H. Barratt as substitute representative:]. Feeling reference was made to the death of Mr. A. E. Smith, late secretary to the Y.M.C.A., a victim of the recent epidemic. A letter of condolence is to he sent to the wife and'family. It was ro-olved to send n letter to Mr. Henry Brittain conveying the cs- - twin and Christian affection of the meeting, and regretting Hint in consequence of advnnciir; years, he has been compelled to relinquish his official duties. Several members'referred to the manv and valuable services which Mr. Brittain had rendered to the Church during his long connection with it, and the hope was expressed that his autumnal days mitrlit bo rich in colour and full of blessing. |
