The thief or thieves displayed a destructive and michievous turn of mind, for a ftfeod deal of minor wanton damage was done to the furniture and fittings of the office.' The postmaster's re- ■ volver was taken and a watch smashed, fire extinguishers were emptied, and some of the lotters in the postingboxes torn. About the same time an \ eiltvj must have been made by the ■ thieves in to a small sweets shop on the opposite side of the road to the post office, occupied' by Miss l'ortman. Her© a good deal of wanton destruction of stock had thken place. An office at tho back of the shop was also broken into, and a desk forced open and ransacked.
