CONGESTED CABLE SERVICES
CAUSES OF THE'DELAY. ' Sydney, January 6, Bad as. it has been throughout the War, the congestion of the cables since the signing of the armistice has grown steadily worse,_ and delivery more erratic. Both routes are affected by 'from one to two.days' delay, and over one route the delay has lengthened to a full week. Press messages ar enow being delivered seven days out of date, and occasionally messages are a. fortnight behind time. The enormous quantity of official matter which takes precedence of all other is primarily responsible; lino faults, on the Eastern .route are ft contributing cause, and a break between the ' Far East and America is causing a large amount of business to be diverted via Australia, further adding to the ' already choked condition of the services.— Press Assn.
