- CONFERENCE ENDS.. The New Zealand Educational .' Institute concluded, its sessions yesterday; -Mr. A. Erskino occupied the chair. '
A resolution was carried authorising and instructing the executive r to carry on negotiations and arrange- for the printing and. publication in Wellington of the official organ/ The. meeting decided that the name of the new journal should bo "National Education.-"
The; committee appointed to. draw up a report on the constitution of the proposed national education board and that'of the proposed education committees also yesterday reported as follows:— .' '
"Members of the education board shall devote thoir whole time to the work of the board, svnd receive a salary- •■'■',
, "The board shall consist.of seven members, and the personnel shall be ns follows:. The Minister,_thc director, three members elected by teachers (one to be a woman), two appointed by the Government (ono to bo a woman). The members elected by the teachers, and those appointed by the Government shall hold offico for three ye'ars.
"Teachers who may be elected members of the education board shall ro : ceive leave of nbsenco during tbn period for which they hold office, and their superannuation' rights shall be conserved.
"The city, the borough, or the county shall bo tho unit area for educational .purposes; tlio city council, borough council, or county council shall set up partly by election and partly by 00-pptation, an education committco or committees to manage the educational affairs of the ar^a"
