AMATEUR ATHLETICS

ANNUAL MEETING. The thirtieth annual meeting of the Wellington Amateur Athletic Club was held last night. Mr. i\l. Burnett presided. Twelve new members wero elected. Mr. A. A. Marryatt, referring to the ensuing season, said that for the advancement of athletics it would be a good thing if all the local clubs wero to amalgamate until they found their feet again. A helpful way of reviving the sport would be to hold a day-meot-ing about March, if the committee could arrange matters. Concerning professional athletics, Mr. Marryatt thought that professionals who desired to rejoin tho body should be allowed to. do so.

Mr. Kitto considered that the position of professionals opened a big question that , should carefully be dealt with.

It was decided that the first evening meeting be held on February 5, and that the events be open to members of all clubs.

The committee is to. consider the question of holding an alMay meeting in March, the 'programme to include school championship events.

It was decided to try to arrange for events for school children at future evening meetings.

Messrs. J. Doyle and W. H. Pollock were appointed coaches of the club.
