(Rec. January 14, 7.20 p.m.) Buenos Aires, January 10. The strike is spreading. Battles between the strikers and the Government forces are raging.in all parts of the city. Cavalry has occupied the meat markets to assure the distribution of food, and to prevent starvation. The Government has mobilised in addition ton thousand white guard's, which havo been ordered to quell the violence at any cost. There havo been two hundred casualties already. Tho strike has been engineered by foroigti Bolshevik agitators.—Reuter. STATEMENT BY THE DICTATOR. (Rec. January 14, 8.20 p.m.) Buenos Aires, January 13. General Dellepine, who assumed a -dictatorship in connection with the strikes, gave as a reason for his appointment the Government's inability to cope with the strikers. Women and children were warned off tho streets of Btenos Aires because the Government was unable to protect . them. Nowspapers wero burned in tho streets bv the mobs, which would not permit any to circulate with the exception of "La Vanguagdia," a semi-Socialist publication. " Russians were responsible for the strike. In somo instances soldiers refused to strike, and serious disorders followed. A public funeral was given five victims of the strike.
