ABOUT £10,000 WORTH OF DAMAGE. By TeleerapU.—PrcßS Association. Duncdln, January 14. A serious fire occurred early this morning iu Ketupthorno, Prosser and Co.'s acid works at Burnside. The damage is estimated at between £20,000 and £30,000. Later. The fire at the acid works at Burnside was not so extensive as was at first thought. One large acid chamber was completely gutted, but the rest of the buildings were saved. The only additional loss was through the escape of acid in an'adjoining building, caused by the melting of the pipes. The damage is estimated at £10,000, exclusive of the loss of acid from the adjoining building. After an inspection by die directors of Kompthorue, Prosser and Co., the damage bv the fire is estimate! at approximately £10,000 to £12,000. The insurances covering the part « the works destroyed amount to UU,UIRJ, divided in different offices. The company expect to resume the manufacture of "acid in about a fortnights time. The fertiliser plant and stock of manufactured fertilisers were not affected by the fire.
