Lime is being largely used on the pastures in tho Miwterton district,.and its effect is very marked, particularly, on the Taratahi plains. A cricket match between freezers and engineers, at the Waiiigawa freezing works was played on- Saturday and resulted in a win for the former. A valuable cup has been presented to the Masterton A. and I'. Association by_ Mr. Thomas Dixon for competition "in the Jersey cattle class. At a meeting of the committee of the Masterto.i A. and P. Association bfi Saturday a sum of £9G 17s. was subscribed towards the slimy prize fund. The question of improving the roads in tho Wairarapa has been under discussion for some time past. In this connection Mr. Joseph Dawson, the well-known contractor, has urged the putting down of concrete roade, stating that these, can be constructed for £13 per chain for a width of twelve •feet.
