His Worship agreed with this view, and accused ivas ordered to bo remanded in custody for a week. An ex parte application was made by tho police that Edward' Horaco Davey should be ordered to pay maintenance in respecb of ench of his three children, who aro at present in tho Wellington Receiving Home. Acting-Sub-Inspector Emerson said that a warrant was issued against tho defendant on December 3, but after that the husband the wife had mado up their differences. However, on Decembpr 7 another warrant had to be issued, whereupon Davey cleared out. Up to the present he bad not been traced; and on account of Mrs. Davey ■having to go Jo tho hospital the children had been sent to tho Receiving Home. • Defendant- was ordered to pay 10s. per week in respect of each child, also past .maintenance, £2 10s. for each child. U suspended provided defendant pays £1 ,2s. Gd. per week, .together with £1 Is. costs'. • Edward Bevau, of Manakau, wns ordered to pay £3 per week towards the support of his wife and two children. Frederick William Lane was ordered to pay los. weekly towards the maintenance of bis wife.
