IMPERIAL PURCHASE
MEAT AND BUTTER ' CONTRACTS EXTENDED The Minister in charge of Imperia* Supplies has received advice that the Imperial Government has agreed to the extension of the requisition.period for New Zealand meat and , butter until June 30, 1920. The butter exporters were anxious that the purchase of their product at the figure named should bo for one year only, but the Minister states that the Imperial Government has insisted ,on the purchase for the longer term. This means that all tlio Imperial purc'wse schemes, affecting wool, meat butter, and cheese, will be co-terniir.ous on June 30, 1920..' "This should give the producers of New Zealand a feeling of. security," said Mr. Guthrie, referring to tho news. "They know eVctly. now what they are going to'got for.their produce for tho next two years, and this should ensure them an easy passage through tho transition period between war and peaco conditions of trading."
