NORTH MEET OLD BOYS FINE BATTING BY HIDDLESTON. There was an interested! and fairly large crowd in attendance at tho Basin Reserve on Saturday afternoon, when a match was commenced between 'North and Old Boys. When the gamo opened the wicket was good, the afternoon bright, and, generally, the conditions were auspicious for a pleasant afternoon's cricket. TJnforcanateiy, a southerly, accompanied ;oy lieuvy rain, made its appearanco somewhat about half-past four, the result bein?, that play ceased for about an hour. North went to the wicket first, and when the game stopped owing 10 tho rain tlie.y had compiled 214 runs. Of this number, Hid'dleaton had contributed 114, and eight wickets were- down. Play was continued about 5.80 p.m., and Hiddloston added another two runs to his score, when he was shortly afterwards bowled by Lambert. .
