EDUCATIONAL TRAINING
FOR RETURNED SOLDIERS,
The Defence Minister stated yesterday that arrangements for the educational classes for soldiers before discharge were well advanced. It was proposed to givo the men training in all manner of subjects, of, such wide diversity as economics and book-lteep-ing, and. for these, classes ready aid had been promised. from the University teachers and schoolmasters _in all the training centres. In addition to' the general education classes there would be vocational training offered to pome of the men. To supervise this work he would shortly be appointing two officers with special qualifications to control this branch. One of the gentlemen that lie had m mind was .an inspector of schools and the other a returned soldier who had been a schoolmaster in civilian life. The Minister said that he hoped tor good results from these glasses, but at any rate he was advised that it would expedite the recovery or Jho men if they were given this in life, and if tlio classes liad this effect they would do much more than to justify'the effort spent on tlicm-
