Sir,—l havo recently, had the privilege of lending u number of addresses by Jlr. ltoosevelt on different subjects .published under tho title of "The Strenuous Life," and almost the closing paragraph of the whole, book. seems so essentially 'charac-' t'eristie of tho man'that. I feel you will agree with mo that it is quito an oppori time time to quote • these words, which formed part of ir paper oil' "Christian Citizenship," read before the Y.M.C;A. of America. The paragraph I refer to is , as follows:—"The .true Christian is the truo citizen, lofty of purpose, resolute.in' endeavour, ready for a hero's deeds, but never looking down his task/because., it is cast in ; tho day'of small things; scornful of baseness, awake, to his own duties >s welt as to his Tights,-'follow-ing the higher law with reverence, and '.- in this world doing all that in liim lies, ■ so that when death comes he may feelthat mankind is : in-some degree tetter because lie lias lived."—l am, etc'., ' - ' . a It.
