Sir,—We badly need statesmen in our councils, but seeing that this type is nonexistent in our Dominion our politicians .'should seize the grand opportunity and settle once and for all time this terrible state of things we are now up agajnst. ■ New Zealand is li glorious country. Its destinies should be controlled by men possessed of balance and understanding and an intense lo.ve of their Dominion. They should see to it thnt if these firemen and other maritime workers will not do what they contract to do, and for /the legal reward, then opeji the door, to allow the Union Steara Ship Company, or any other company similarly placed, to import any coloured labour necessary. It is obvious white: men have grown too arrogant for these jobs. Ret the nativu .races, who will gladly do the work, have the opportunity.—l am, etc., : . anti-bolshevik; ■' January 9.,- '
