SOUTH AUSTRALIAN WHEAT YIELD
The "Adelaide Register" has issued its "forecast of the wheat- yield of South ,'. "Australia for the present season. From ■ data obtained it is estimated that of the "total area under crops, 2,558,427 acres, 'against 2,665,497 acres, for the preceding season, at least 30,000 acres have failed ■" totally, or have beon fed off on account of being, too short, cither to bind nr '' strip. Of the balance, it appears likiiiy ' that 2,226,427 acres will be traversed by tho harvesters and drippers, ami return 20,438,599 bushels to tho acre, against .28,692,594 and 12.18 bushels respectively last season. Owing to the shortage of stocks, etc., and tho demand promised from Nw South AValee. the area cut for bay will be larger, nnd ot .1.03 tons to ■the ncre, the. area reserved for this purpose (approximately 301,000 acres') should yfeld 3U.0G0 tons, compared with 351,400 tons for 1917-18. -
