r STATEMENT.' The following statement is credited to Mr. Carl Vrooman, Assistant Secretary of Agriculture, , United. States :-"The dairy herds of the Old' World are depleted to an appalling degree. There is not a country in Europe where the people Tiave enough dairy products, and this process of depletion, je going on . every day and every week, and every month, and "will continue to go on so long as thia horrible war lasts.' AVhen the war is finished ''•Wβ will find the world with" a demand for dairy products two-fold, fourfold, ten-fold greater than, the eupply. Europe will come to America with outetretehed hande-every country in (Europe—and soy to us: 'We must have -milks give -us canned milk; give us dry milkj give us',butter, give us cheese; rive us dairy cattle, give us animals to (build, up our dairy herds again.' Unless America has stimulated the_ production of dairy , ■products; and ' increased 'oar supply of. dairy animals far 'beyond anything In the past, wo shall be utterly -unable to supply this demand. We will supply «s much as we.can, because they are going to be willing to pay,]?ractically any reasonable price for our live etook; and we will pupp\y so nvuch ot it that our own resources will bo exhausted. Tien the United States will be without sufficient dairy products."
