X A meeting of the Society for the Prej> vention of Cruelty to Animals was held
last ovening, Mr. A. Forrest in the chair. Correspondence was received from Napier and Nelson re cruelty to horses, also the matter ot providing a lethal chamber for. the destruction of cats, which matter 11 receive attention. It was reported that a new trough had been erected b.y the City Council near the Lambt'pn Railway Station. i It was reported that since'last meet- ' ing the inspector dealt, with six cases i of horses having sores, two lame, one destroyed,, two ill-treated, one dog and two cats destroyed.
