RIFLE SHOOTING
. MEETING AT THENTHAJI IN MARCH ' The annual riflo competitions n.re to bs resumed'at Trent ham in March. Several meetings of the coliNnittee have been held, the riflo: raiigo has been visited, and the camp site selected. The chief executive officer (Colonel R. J. Collins, C.M.G.f was able to place before tlie committee meeting held last week full details. The range and target accommodation are'in excellent, order; and the Ordnance Department, which has charge of the range, w ill render every assistance to make the .meeting a success. Rifles (19H pattern) and ammunition (mark VII) will be provided by the Government, nnd issued on the range. Competitors will be restricted to the use of Government rifles, ns issued from the Ordnance Store, so that all men competing will shoot o> equal terms. The necessary camp will be erected, and blankets, waterproof shsets, and mattresses will be supplied to competitors. Provision will be made for messing in the large club room on the camp site. All'targ'et repairs will be carried out 'by the iranpo wardens. The markers will be provided as usual by the permanent force. The meeting will open on Tuesday, Jtareli 11, and finish on the following Saturday The first day will be devoted to practice with the new rifles, and tho comnetitions will commence the following day. The nrogramme will comprise service find bull's-eye competitions, as heretofore, but only no to SOO yards, all distances over that have' been Struck out for the year. Colonel .T. G. Roach, who lias returned from the front, will again take up the secretarial duties. .
