Mr. Satnnel Gompers, president of the American Federation of Labour, giving evidence before tho Social Industrial Investigation Committee, said that any attempt by means of laws to prevent labour • strikes'was futile. He condemned legislation for compulsory arbitration. Labour had prevented? -where possible, any legislation of this kind. Demobilisation was cheating considerable .unemployment.
