THE STRANDED TRANSPORT
LANDING WOUNDED TROOPS. New York, January 2. The wounded' troops aboard the transport Northern Pacific, which is ashore ' on Fire Island, are being landed. The passengers and the vessel are in no danger. During the landing of the troops : fifteen men fell in tho surf, but were rescued, Many 'of the soldiers were rescued from tho transport North Pacific by means of the breeches buoy. Four men from an overturned surfboat wore unconscious when dragged out of the water by the rescuing parties. — Aue.-N.Z. Cable A'ssn. ' f.
