Shaud, J.P., nt the Magistrate's Court j;e6terday with having assaulted Emily Logan so as to entire her actual bodily harm. On the application of the police accused was remanded to appear in a rail's time. . .. . .Tames Patrick Delaney was charged with having . assaulted Michael John Dunn. . Dunn stated that on tho afternoon of December 31 lie -changed a .£lO note,in an hotel on.Lnmbton Quay. Although Delaney was in tho . bar. at the time,' witness could not be-sure whether lie saw the- transaction. Later in the i day Delaney met him in the street and j requested tho loan of 2s. On being rofnsed ho suggested that witness should , giro him Is. This witness also refused to do, and Delanoy struck him a heavy Wow on tho jaw, knocking h'iin off tho footpath. Delaney said that Dunn owed him somo gnmblijig debts, but this do- f fenco did not find favour with tho Bench, , who fined defendant dC2, in default four- , teen days' imprisonment. ■ One first-ofTondor was convicted and discharged for insobriety, and two others were ordered to forfeit tho amounts of their bail, IQ9i j
