The -weather waß fairly satisfactory for tlio third day of tho Auckland Racing Club's Summer Meeting. There was some rain during the afternoon, but not sufficient to interfere seriously with the racing. As was generally expected. Gloaming scored a decisive victory in the Great Northern Derby. Gloaming was the quickest to get going, though Ivilmoon. waß soon alongside him, and, keeping up the pace, established a lead of two lengths. Gloaming, however, moved up again about half a miV from.home, and got his head in front as the field entered the straight. It, was now plain that nothing could beat him. Kilmoon came on pluckity. but Gloaming was a length and a half in front as they passed the winning post. The Midsummer Handicap was won oy Sundance, who was mode favourite.
