GERMANS TO BE BARRED
RESTRICTED DLMIGEATION IN FUTURE.
In the House of Lords recently tlie Government was asked what steps it pro. posed to take to prevent or to regulatean influx of Germans into the United Kingdom on the declaration of peace. Lord Cave, in reply, made an important declaration of policy. Ho stated that u large number of Germans were interned in England, and when peace was declared it was intended to send them home. To prevent their return to England tho Government proposed to introduce, in good lime before the ratification of tho Peace Treaty, a Bill --vhich would give tho Ministry iho same powernf exclusion in time of peaco as they had possessed during tho war. It was proposed to take nower (o distinguish * between nationalities, so lhal special rules might be laid down with regard lo the enemies of Great Britain. Lord Cayo added (hat if he had his way lie would allow no German at all to land in England, and he hoped the Government would take the same view.
