THE SAILORS' CHRISTMAS
The fact Hint its building U still held by the Health Department as n seamen's hospital prevented (he .Sailors' , Friend Society from carrying out the usual full programme nt Christinas. The men in the hospital were remembered and visited. On Boxing Day a, party, by the courtesy of His Worship the Mayor, met in the Concert Chamber of tho Town ■Hull, and here games, ten, supper, and pictures filled in a truly happy time. At 8 p.m. the New ZealandFictures Supplies, Ltd., generously put oh a programme for the guests.- At the close of the day Mr. Moore, ni'issioner, moved a voto of thanks to the Mayor, tho Picture Supplies, Ltd., his workers, the custodian, and all who had sent in gifts. This w«s supported by Captain J. Alacfarlano and Air. Dunn. The happy party broko up at 11, after tho singing of the Doxology and "God Save the King." The missioncr hopes that the society's own building will. be ready for the New Year's Day picnic and concert.
BRITISH AND FOREIGN SAILORS' SOCIETY. At the invitation of tho Wnllingto; Branch of the British and Foreign Sail ors ,. Society a large number of sailor mot at the Sailors' Rest, Queen's Cham hers on the morning of Boxing Day nin ioiirneycd by special car to Mirama Park. Others who wcro unable to gc away early went out by later cart Friends of the Mission also turned on in good force ,and when the afternoo: came round there was quite larg crowd assoniblod at tho park. Variou races, including sack race, egg and spoo race, and tug-of-war, rounder. l football, etc., wero indulged ir and refreshments partaken of. Th •festivities were continued in th rooms of the Naval Boating C'lu where games of all kinds were enjoye and various songs contributed. Thi party was augmented by a number o sailors who were linablo to join in th picnic at the park. The committee t Ihe British and Foreign Sailors' Socid, was assisted by several Christian Kr deavour workers. Tho arrangement were organised by Mr. D. M'Callum, pn sidont of the society. Ringing cheers i: the close of the proceedings were a pros as to how the sailors had enjoyed th outing provided for them. /
