PREVALENCE OF GOITRE
Sir,—ln your issue of' December 26 appears an announcement that >s«veral of the medical profession are about to start an investigation of the prevalence of -oitre among the population of New Zealand. Now, it may have escaped the eves of the medical profession, perhaps, owing to the strenuous times wo have been passing through these last four years, that a very important work has been oublished some few months ago on the "Thyroid Gland in Health and Disease" by Dr. M'Carrieon, a North ot Ireland man, who studied the disease for years among some of the hill tribes ot India I saw some comments on the book a few months ago. The, reviewer Rtated that it was the most important vet published on that particular disease. Any investigations entered intc. ui New Zealand should be aided by all the latent information on the subject. No doubt the medical profession may havo seen, l>r.
