THE FIGHT IN AUSTRALIA.

Tho Commonwealth Government has decided to accept the offer of the Rockefeller foundation of tho United States lo co-operate in the anti-hook worm light in Australia lor a period and will provide a subsidy of ,£.)•>,000 it the Queensland Government voles » similar sum. Since; the Rockefeller ionndation has agreed to provide £10,000 there will thus be JCICO.OOO available to conduct the campaign. Tho subject was fully discussed between tho representative of the ltockcIVller foundation reprs-enlalives ot tlie Institute, of Tropical .Medicine and ot the Quarantine Department and tlie .Minister l'or Territories. Other points of agreement were that Ihe work should be carried on m close co-operaiion with .the Institute oi I '' 0 !"" cul Medicine and under the control ot committees representing that body and the Commonwealth and Slote bovernini)r Waite, of the Rockefeller foundation,' will be in charge of the field work. Queensland will be divided into torn districts, each willi a stall ot two medical and four, lay assistants. . After (he work of eradication has been well advanced in Queensland arrangements will be made with other States to conduct surveys of areas likely to be affected, and, if necessary, to carry out extermination measures.
