POLICE CHARGES. Mr. F. V. Frazer, S.M., presided over a short sitting of the Magistrate's Court yesterday morning. Nellie Nelson appeared for the fifth time within Bix months on a charge of

drunkenness, and for the second lime within the same period on a charge of breaking a prohibition order. His Worship said that he was prepared to treat the offence on this'occasion as having arisen out of the seasonal festivities. Hn would, therefore, make the defendant a sporting offer. "If you are locked up again for drunkenness," said His Worship, "I shall have to send you to Pakatoa. In the meantime, however, yon will lie convicted and ordered to come up for sentence when called upon."_ Several iirsl offenders were convicted of drunkenness and discharged.
