DEATH OF A BARMAID
BODY FOUND ON A ROOF.
Tho bndy- of Jean Hunter, a barmaid who had been missing from the Post Office Hotel since Monday evening, was discovered at 8.20 a.m. yesterday lying on the roof of Pearson and Co.'s building. Tho deceased was last seen alive about 8 p.m. on Monday. Her disappearance was reported on Tuesday, but nothing was heard of the woman until yesterday, when an employee of the I'ost Offico Hotel, standing on the roof of the place, noticed her corpse lying on the roof of the adjoining building. Deceased, it seems, had been unwell on Monday afternoon, and had made 6ome cryptic observation about a coffin and jumping from (he roof. She was 36 years of age.
The body was conveyed to the morgue, and an inquest will be hold shortly.
Tho height of the Post Office Hotel roof above tho roof of Pearson's building is stated to be about twenty-fivo feet.
