MANSLAUGHTER CHARGE

TEE ACCUSED IN COURT. Thomas Albright entered the dock in the Magistrate's Court yesterday on a charge of manslaughter. It was alleged that on December 2;) he assaulted his mother, who was sixty vfara of age, in such a way as to cause her death. Senior-Sergeant Emerson said that the accused was drunk at the time at which the assault was committer). His Worship asked if it was known whether the assault was sufficiently serious to have caused death to a person in a normal state of health. He said that the miestion would affect the granting of bail. Senior-Sergeant Emerson replied that he did not know all the particulars of the case at present. His Worship therefore remanded the accused without bail to January 3.
