PROPORTIONAL REPRESENTATION
DISCARDED BY CHRTSTCHUHCH CITY COUNCIL. By Telegraph—Press Association Christchurch, December 24. A special meeting of the Chrislchureh City Council was held last night to consider n proposal to rescind proportional representation, under which the present council was elected. The Labour members of the council stonewalled, but after the meeting had lasted over eight hours the motion was carried at 3.35 a.m. by ten votes to seven.
