The contracting parties were Mr. Jolm Douglas Scott, late of Wellington, and Miss Margaret Tonkin, daughter of the '.ate Captain Tonkin. The bride, who was given a,way by her brother, Mr.. Herrick Tonkin, wore a cream net frock, with touches of pink, and a beatiful shower bouquet of roses to match. The bridesmaids—Miss Margaret Laing awl Miss Rae Moeller— were attired in cream frocks with black hats, and carried artistic bonquets of blue delphiniums. Mr. G. Nesbitt acted as best num. After the ceremony tho happy couple ami their guests were entertained by Mr. and Mrs. K. R. C. liowen, of their residence, "Grahan," Cameron Koad. Mr. and Mrs. Scott subsequently left for the south by motorcar, the brido's travelling dress being a costume of putty-colour gabardine, set off by a stylish pink hat. A quiet wedding was celebrated at St. Patrick's ■ Church, Napier, in Monday last, tho partids being Sergeant-Major Charles Robert Henry, of the Napier Defence Staff, and- Miss • Agnes Vera Guthrie, Meennee. Professor and Mrs. Easterfiold and their family leave for Packakariki on Monday next. They have taken a house there for some weeks. Miss Wilson accompanied her father, Mr. L. H. B. During tho lost two years Madame Dolores has been singing pretty well exclusively for French patriotic purposes, nnd'sho succeeded in raising no less a sum than ,£17,000. Her pianist and accompanist on tho New Zealand be Mr. Harold Smith, a Melbourne player with European training and -■ experience. Mr. Duncan Keren will manage the tour. Mr. and Mrs. D. Kennedy, of the Hutt, are the guests of Mrs. Dellcr, "Bushcroft," Carterton. Mr. and Mrs. 11. W. Nunn, of Longbush, arc in Wellington. They purpose visiting Auckland and making an- extensive tour, Miss Rita Adams, Wairarapn, is the ■ guest of her sister, Mrs. Jordan, of Karori.

Mr and Mrs. W. A. There passed away at her residence. Belvedere, on Sunday, a very old and much-respectc<l resident, in the peij 0 ] 1 of Mrs. Mary Burnett (savs the Wairarapa Daily Times"). The deceased ladv was' born at Birmingham, England, and arrived at Wellington lGn *•}! years of age with her parents [Mr. and Mrs. Bamford), in the ship Oliver Laing. She had been resident in I'ne Dominion for G3 years. She was married at Wellington 58 years ago, and her husband, the late Mil 1 . George Burnett, predeceased her 7 years ago. When her parents landed in Wellington they resided at the Taitni. After her. marriage she and her husband came to the Wairarajm and settled ou .the property at Belvedere in 1881. The late Mrs. Burnett was &. very -enthusiastic worker in connection with horticultural shows, and always took a keen delight in furthering the interests of the Carterton Horticultural Society when it was in existence._ She was also n very zealous worker in connection with St. Andrew's .Church, Carterton. The late Mrs. Burnett leaves a family of married daughters. The daughters are Mcsd-ames E. Eagle, juu., Belvedere; ,Tas Bayliss. Whakornngi: Ghns. Morgan, Clareville; T. J. Rathlione, Carterton; A.
