The "Morning Post's" Archangel correspondent states that Allied intervention in North Russia has achieved important results, promising the resurrection and regeneration of Russia. Mr. Ackerman, the New York "Times's" Vladivostock, correspondent, states that' Russia's civil war has reached the stage where decisive battles are in preparation between the Bolsheviki in the East and tho militarists and monarchists in" the West. A distressing feature of Russia's civil war is that it is not a fight for freedom, but ft contest for power between anarchy and military autocracy as represented by Kolchak and Deniken.' Mr. Charles Crane, a member of the Root Mission to Russia, in 1917, is returning from the Orient. Ho slates that Siberia is full of little republics with no stability. Tlje Allies' inrm-cn-tion in Russia has, he says, small chances of success. The better plan would be for the Allies to repair Russia's transportation systems and carry on relief work.—Aus.-N.Z. Mr. Ackerman, the New York "Times's" correspondent at Ekaterinburg, has interviewed Parfen Alexeivitch Doniinin, who was4he ex-Tsar's major-domo, accompanying him to exile. "From him," he says, "I obtained the first eyewitness's account of tho Tsar's last days under the Bolsheviki. His trial was brief, as also was his farewell to his family." The account shows that the Tsar until his iast hours was intriguing with tho military leaders for the restoration of the monarchy.
