DEATH OF A WOMAN
SON ACCUSED OP MANSLAUGHTER,
The sequel to tie death at the Hospital on Monday of an elderly woman named Mrs. Grace Albrecht iras the arrest of her married son, Thomas Albrecht, on Christmas Eve, on a charge of manslaughter. Mrs. Albrecht resided with her husband and other members of the family at 87 Wright Street. About S p.m. on December 4 the son Thomas, who is a driver in the employ of a local brewery, aiul lives in 5 Howard Street,_ went to his mother's home fnj; tea. It is alleged that lie was under the influence of liquor at the time, and that he raised some complaint regarding the food which was placed before him. Some words are stated to have passed, and a squabble took place, during which, it is alleged, tlio accused struck his mother,- a woman of sixty years, about tho liend and body. Mrs. Albrecht felt down, and it being discovered that she was injured in some way Dr Perkins' was Isent for. He attended to the deceased, and at once sent her to the Hospital, she died at 2 o clock on Monday afternoon. The inquest into the cause of the woman's death will take plate at the Magistrate's' Court at 9.45 p.m. on Saturday. ' Albrecht, who is 35 years of age. was arrested by Sergeant Butler, of the Mount Cook police, and he will be brought before the Magistrate's Court at 9 oclocs this morning.
