DISPUTES IN THE SOUTH. By Teleeranh.-Prcss Ainoclation. Christchurch, December 23< The Christchurch tramway dispute has reached a new stage. The. board has informed the union that it proposes to lake advantage, of legislation passed last session, and apply to the Arbitration Court for an amendment of the award. The union considers the development today. TO CEASE WORK. INVERCA.IMJILL MEN'S THREAT. Invercargill, December 23. The train employees have notified the council that unless a dismissed motorman (Fraser) is reinstated they will cease work on Tuesday. ■ They express dissatisfaction with the, council's offer of ono penny per hour increase in wages, and ask for an investigation into the management.
