AUSTRALIAN SOLDIERS ON THE LAND
Tho' Federal Government has decided to allow privato enterprise to participate in placing returned soldiers on the laud. The organisation known as Australian Farms Limited is allowed by the Federal Treasurer to borrow .SiflO.flflO in 6 per cent, cumulative preference shares for the purpose of providing the, means for purchasing the necessary land, and a deRcriplion of the niethods to bo employed appear in our advertisement columns. The return to shareholders in the company is limited to G.prr cent., and' Iho capital so employed will bo kept separate from the other business, of the company, while the directors will accept no fees while engaged in repatriation work. The proposal has the endorsement and the support of the Sailors and Soldiers' Fathers' Association, as w«H as of many citizens to whom the 'standing of Australian Farms Limited is Known. It is intended by tho company to provide for ihe settlement and equipment of fifty repatriated soldiers.
