Wedding at Kent Terrace. On Wednesday morning at Kent Terrace Presbyterian Church, Miss Inn Featherstone, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Feathorstone, "Woolsinghara," Petoue, was married to Mr. Gordon Eeginnld 'Smith, eon of Mr. anil Mrs. H. Smith, of llataitui, Wellington. The officiating clergyman was the lfev. I). Kennedy Elliott. Tho bride, who was given away by her father, wore a cream tailor-;nadc costume, with a cream crepe do chine hat. Sho ■ curried a bouquet of cream roses and pink carnations. The bridesmaid was Miss Hilda Cargill. She wore a white not frock with hat to match, and carried a bouquet of pink sweet peas. Mr. Arthur Chappie was best man. After the reception, which was held at Godber's, Mr. and Mrs. Smith 'left for Wnnganui.
Levin Memorial Home, Mrs.' West Knowlce presided Rt the monthly meeting of the Levin Memorial Home Committee. Tho matron reported thnt the chijdven were nil well. At SI. Andrew's Church on Friday afternoon Miss Jessie Wilson, second daughter' of Mr. William Wilson, of Wellington, ami late of the nursing stall of the Boiven Street Private Hospital, was married , to Mr. Alfred East, third son of Mr. James Bast, of Gisborne, and a member of the •'teaching staff of the Clyde Quay School. • Mr. East will he remembered by ninny of the gallant adventurers of New Zealand's Main Body, as the member of the Medical Corps who, for deeds of <onspicuous bravery under fire, wus awarded the Serbian gold medal, with which he was decorated by His Excellency the Governor-Gefteral a ■fow months ago. The bridesmaids were Misses .Tocelyn East (niece of the bridegroom), Dorothy Wilson (sister o( tlir> bride), and Grace Warren (of Gishorne). The best man was Mr. Krnest Wilson, brother of the bride. Mr. and Mrs. East liuvo gone to Gisborne for their honeymoon.

Mrs. Roskruge, who has been visiting her daughter, Mrs. J. G. Collins, St. Albnns, has returned to her home in Wellington. Miss Fairbrothor (Wairarnpa) is visiting Cliristchurch. Miss Juno Clifford is on her way with Sir George Clifford to Auckland, whore they will spend Christmas. Lady Clifford unci Miss Molly Clifford will spend Christmas at Stonyhurst. Dr. and Mrs. Louieson, of Christchureh, arn visiting the North Island. They intend to motor from 'Wellington to Auckland, taking Taitpo nnd Rotorua en route. A hint that Princess 'Mary might make an overseas trip, taking in New Zealand, wus conveyed to members of (lie Navy League by Mr. M. L. Heading (says the ''Lyttelton Times") in describing the reception of the Press delegates at Windsor, Castle. He said that Their Majesties received the delegates in groups of two and three, and immediately made them quite at their ease, conversing about New Zealand, and the pleasure that their former visit had given them and praising the New Zealand soldiers. Princess Mary, Mr. Reading remarked, had declared that she had heard New Zealand so' much talked about that she would very much like to see it. Mr. Reading's remark was received with applause.
A Rummer camp for Auckland business girls will bo opened this week by the. Y.W.C.A. at AVaikowhai, on the shores of the Manukau Harbour. A fund to provide a holiday at this camp tor girls whose small savings have been used up through sickness during t!i<? epidemic has been started:by tho association, and several donations have been received. Miss Griffon; secretary, stated that a considerable number of cases had come to her attention in. which girls had used up all their-money io pay doctors and chemists' billfi. Th-ae were the girls who most needed a holiday, but under the circumstances ■ would be unable to take it, except ■ througli the scheme inaugurated by. the Y.W.C.A. on their beImlf.
Another, of -the enjoyable evenings arranged undor tho. auspices of the British and Foreign Sailors' Society, which are so much appreciated by the sailors visiting tin , ., port, took place on Saturday night, the ontertaininc-ut being arranged by a party of ladies and genllomen from the Boi'hiimpore Baptist Church. The usual parlour games and ,choruses were indulged in, and after a light supper had been partaken of the sailors wended their , way wharhvards about 11 p.m. quite satisfied with the break provided for them in tho monotony of their daily routine: .The president of tho so»iely reported as to tho progress being made with the arrangements for the snilors' enjoyment during the coming festive week, nnd mi enjoyable lime is being looked forward to by the seafaring men.
W.C.T.U. '- The aimual meeting of the Wellington Ctntr.il Union was held in the Y.M.C.A. rooms on Friday last, Mrs. A. l<. Aikmson iiresidhiK. Tho annual report and balance-sheet were read and ndoptcd. Tho following ollkers wore re-elected:— President, Jlr.<. A. W. Atkinson; treasurer, Mrs. Helyer; iccbrding secretary, Mre Clark; corresponding secretary and Press reporter, Miss Helyer; superintendents of departments: hygiene, Mrs. M'Donald; literature, Mrs. Cnughlcy; work among sailors, Mrs. Nimmo; white ribbon, Mrs. Port. Several letters recently received by Mrs. Nimmo from sailors who had been provided with warm clothing from the stocks sent Home last yenr by tho W.C.T.U. were read. Some of these leUers were from men who had lost their kits in torpedoed vessels and all spoke in most Ki-ntefnl lerms of the. gifts received.
Women's National Reserve. Xhe laft meeting for the year of the hf'adqitartcrfi' executive of tho Women's Kationnl Reserve was held las-t week, Dr. Plnlts-Mills presiding. Numerous letters from sub-contres and centres had been received fihowing the need for the W.N.K. to continup its work during the repatriation. It wae unanimously deoided to "cnrry.on." To provide for the nvennes of usefulness for the future a conference of Dominion delegates has been fixed to meet in Wellington nt the end of February, to reconstruct the constitution and rules. It was also decided to close the office, 137 Featherston Street, until February 16. All the local branches have been hearty , taxed during the inlluenza epidemic, and. have done such fin work, that it wns felt wise to discontinue all work till February IG. Mrs. H. G. Didsbury and her children are staying at Pirinoa for several weeks. Mrs. M'Govern (Dannevirke) has been spending a few days with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Boddington,' in llasterlon, before going to Auckland for the „ Christmas lime. ' Mrs. Ernest Uadfjeld and her family are spending the holidnys at Worser Bay. Miss Gether, instructress to returned soldiers at Rotoruu, is visiting Wellington. Mrs. Ernest Blundell and. family leave for Picton to-duy for the holidays. Mrs. Agnien Smith, of Nelson, is visiting Wellington. Miss Hildn Richard, of Island Bay, is visiting Christchurch. At St. Alban'e Church, Eastbourne, last week, Miss Kathleen Smith, daughter of Captain and Mrs. G. G. Smith, of Day's Bay, was married to Lieutenant G; J. Worrall, of the New. Zealand Dental Corps, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Worrnll, of Dunedin. The Rev. 0. M. Stent officiated. The bride, who was givon away by her father,, wore n cream costume and cream lint with touches of pale blue. Mies Rennie M'Lellnn attended as bridesmaid, and wore a frock of powder blue georgette, and black hat. Captain Cross was best man. The engagement is announced of Alias lsmene Mnntell, second daughter of Mr. Walter Mantel!, Sydney Street, to Mr. Morris Watt, only sou of Mr. James Watt, St. John's Hill, Wanganui. Many students of .Victoria College, both paet aud present, will regret to hear of tho death of Miss Louisa Chapman, who took lwr B.A. degree hore last year. She was teaching in. the Stratford District High School, but returned to Palmerston recently, and underwent a serious operation in a private hospital there-a few days ago.' Much sympathy will bo felt for her relatives and numerous friends.
Captain and Mrs. Eric Spencer Bayley, of this city, will be the guests of Mrs. R. Bayley (New Plymouth) during the Christmas holidays. Miss Tidy (New Plymouth} is visiting her sister, "Mrs. Butler, Wellington. The death lias occurred at Dnnedin, at the advanced age of 93, of Mrs. Mar-, garet Gordon Burn, formerly principal of the Otago Girls' High School, and afterwards principal of the uaitaki Girls' High School, Oamaru. Miss If. Palmer, who has been a member of the Napier Main School teaching staff for many years, was, at the last school committee meeting, accorded a hearty vote of appreciation for the services'rendered by her, a letter expressive of the committee's thanks to be forwarded. . v. Mrs. Chatfield, of Tinnkori Road, is ependins the Christmas holidays with Mrs. Batchelor, of Motueka. Colonel and Mrs. J; M'Donald, of-Pal-merston North, are staying at Sealoiin for tho Chrietmas and New Year Midays.
