MIRAMAR BOROUGH COUNCIL

The Miramar Borough Council held its fortnightly meeting last evening, tho Mayor (Mr. E. Townsend) presided, and there were present:—Councillors S. H. Underwood, M. Tracey, W. H. Green, J. Pollock, H. IC Robertshaw, and C. A. Chapman.' A deputation from the Miramar Fire Brigade waited on the council with reference to having the Eiro Brigade plant reserved for their exclusive use, so that hose, etc., would not be used in borough work. The council decided to consider the matter. The Minister of Internal Affairs wrote informing tho council that all local bodies were to be allowed to make their own arrangements for the celebration of peace. The Miramar Municipal Electors' and Beautifying Association wrote refliiesting tho council to consider tho matter of increasing the number of councillors from seven to ten or more. The council decided to postpone consideration of the matter until just before tho next borough election. A letter was received from the Alexandra Borough Council requesting tho Miramar Council to protest to the Health Department against allowing tuberculosis patients being'sent from town districts into the country. The Council decided to give its support to the request.
