MEETING OF THE BOAED. Messrs. Hj Baldwin (chairman), B. G. H. Burn, D. Campbell, J. Smith, F. Castle, J. A. M'Ewan, G. Pethorick, W. J. Thompson, A. J.- M'Curdy, Kcv. H. van Stavercn, Rev. Dr. Elliott, Mcsdamos M'Laron, M'Vicar, and Aitken were present at the monthly meeting of the Wellington Hospital and Charitable Aid Board held yesterday afternoon. Tho following recommendations of the Hospital Committee vere agreed to:— _ "That tlie Education Board were unable to provide another teacher for the children in the infantile paralysis ward till the early part of next year. "That the Chinese residents had donated a sum of .£lB6 Bs. fid. to the hospital, and that a sum of .£l2 10s. had been received from various donors for tho sick nurses. "That it is reported with groat regret that Nurse Skidmoro had fallen a victim to the influenza epidemic, and that a letter of condolence had been sent to her relatives." The Health inspectors reported for the nionth ended December 10 as follows:— "Over three hundred cases of influenza have been notified; this does not indicate all the cases, as many of the doctors have not been able to send in their cases. The number of disinfections done has not been kept, several ships, temporary hospitals, churches, and public buildings have been disinfected. We have assisted in equipping several hospitals, and inhalation chambers. Inspections of hairdressing saloons, tea shops, and picture shows. The ordinary monthly report has not been presented owing to tho pressure of work occasioned by the epidemic. We havo been on duty every night, Saturday and Sunday, since its commencement." Accounts for the month passed for payment amounted to .£7495 15s. 3d. The credit fund account stood at .£'6222 Bs. 10d., and the No. 2 loan account at ■£20,72<f, 15s. 2d. The following recommendations of the Finance Committeo were adopted:— "That the thanks of tho board bo tendered to Mr. A. H. Hollis for the gift of an invalid perambulator and padded splint for tho use of tho children's hospital." "That the local Deputy Public Trustee had forwarded the sum of ,£B* 7s. Gd., being interest on a bequest of the late Allan Mnguire to bo used for Christmas gifts, etc., for the Children's Hospital." "That <£500 further insurance cover be provided for tho operating theatre, ophthalmic ward." "That this committso cannot recom-mi-nd that any variation be made in the NX _ Travlimj and Fish Supply Company'-!; contract for Hie supply of fish for the year ending March 31, 1019." "That the chairman interview the Defence authorities to ascertain something definite with regard to the return to New Zoaland of Mr. J. Coyle." "That. Messrs. Seaton, Sladden, and Pavitt bo instructed to survey ond pre- j pare a plan for a track from the old to the new Fever Hospital." ] "That medicines amounting in value r to Is. 7d. had been jssued to local ] authorities in connection with the in- j lluenzn epidemic." j "That tho thanks of tho board be tendered to Major Hurley for the assistance rendered by somo of liis staff in dispensing influenza mixture."
