THE WESTMORELAND. In Saturday's Dominion it was stated, on the authority of Australian exchanges, that it was believed that the P.. and- p. liner. Westmoreland; had been sunk, in-the Meditorannean. Captain Dcith, of the Kent,, which arrived at : Wellington yesterday, and who was formerly on the Westmoreland, does not bnlieve tbio story. The Westmoreland, he says, was torpedoed in' the. English Channel some time ago, but was beached and sqlved. He doee not.,think it would have been possible to repair the vessel and plane hir in commission iigain to allow of her being sunk in.the Meditcranncan.

THE KENT ARRIVES. The.new F. and S. liner Kent (9857 tons) .arrived at. Wellington yesterday morning; froni Londou, via Sydney ail'd Auckland, orid berthed at the Kinc'H Wharf. 'Thn. Now Zealand Shipping Company are the local agents. This ia the Kent's first visit to Wellington, eho having been completed only a short time ago. She han a big cargo-carrying capacity, and is thor. oughly' camouflaged.. She will leave Wellington on Friday for Lytfelton and Dimediu to complete her discharge.
