EPIDEMIC RELIEF
A COMMITTEE SET UP. / During the epidemic and since many distressing cases came under the notice of voluntary workers in which it was found necessary to provide financial relief, and group committees wero asked to use their best discretion in disbursing moneys supplied them from the 'J own Hall in the form of imprest accounts. In some districts money voluntarily donated .met all the demands, but in others a fair amount of money was, r.nd is still being, disbursed .in absolutely necessitous cases. The Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke), has up till this week been the solo empowering authority, but such is the multiplicity of his duties that he is having a committee associated with him to attend to all cases of monetary relief, and this committee will bo on hand daily to attend to such business. The committee set up consists of Messrs. Davidson Hate Chief Accountant of the Railway Department), T. Forsyth (chairman of the Education Board), H. B. Ross, and P. Fraser, M.P. This committee will determine "the necessity of cases applying for relief, »nd will : allocate the amounts to be disbursed.
