Hanau) to the Wellington College Board of Governors of an additional grant of £500 for building extensions if the board will agj'ee to establish in the school classes in first aid, home nursing, and physiology. The board is to receive some funds from the Government for miielineedod additions to the.girls'-school, and this offer of .£SOO is iii addition to the amount already voted by the Government for this purpose. The proposal of the Minister is the outcome of tho epidemic, which proved that there was need for more general knowledge in these su.bjects among the population. The board has not yet considered the matter, but it is practically, certain that it will readily accept the offer, of the Minister.. In addition tho Minister has in contemplation a. scheme for compulsory continuation classes in these subjects, and it has been suggested that the classes should bo for boys as well as girls.
