The 'Wanganui Borough Council tccolved to-night to endorse the recent resolution of the South African Veterans ' iAssociation, urging that the Government take timely steps to ensure the proper ~ transport of returning soldiers, in order that cases euoh-ns that of theiroopsh'P . Britannic, at the end of the .South • w African war, may ho .avoided, and in particular prevent the overcrowding of transrarts notwithstanding the extra expense such a policy may entail. The comic, also agreed to the South African Veterans' Association's deputation's request to circularise local bodiesj, asking them-rtlso .to endorse the resolution, and notify, the Government of the e.ame. The.Jnatter has also been submitted to the Heturned Soldiers' Association, which has.forwardedit to headquarters jn Wellington, strongly recommending that the South Africans • representations he endorsed and pressed upon the attention of the Government.
