MEETING OF COUNCIL.

; The council of; the -'Wellington Central Chamber of Conyncrce met yesterl day afternoon. Mr. A. Leigh Hunt .presided, . and. there were present Messrs. Mapplebeck,, Jlanlie-Shnwy 'Cotton; Gaudin, Cook, Hart, mid Castle. The. chairman referred, before tho commencement of business, to the signing of the armistice, and to the great events which had Brought it about. Incidentally ho expressed Hlie hope' that the demand for the txtradition of tho kaiser from Holland would meet with universal support.. Ho hoped that the tendencies which would direct tho development of public sentiment in this country would all lead to a more fervent loyalty to the llag, which was Ihe emblem of the best Constitution Hie world lm<l seen. ■Mr. Hunt also referred to ilie rnvatfes of the recent epidemic, and to the splendid qualities which had been ?ii £ those who fought it. All of the remits submitted to the recent conference of Associated Chambers of Commerce by the 'Wellington Central Uhamber, the chairman reported, had been carried by the conference in some torm or another. A list, of'questions'into which' tho SireneU Mission to Australia had been inquiring was referred to the Commerce Committee for report. The 'chairman expressed the view that Finn- Krance had been so staunch, an ally, it would bo well to assist her as far as possible in her inquiries about opportunities for extend ing her . commerce. ; Tho council supported a resolution of the Chamber of Commerce urging the Kew Zealand Society of Accountants to continue its examinations book-keepers' certificates. ,future meetings of the council were lixed tor the second .
